In an effort to improve the quality of industrial education in Indonesia, SSD and PPPV BPSDMI held discussions on various strategic collaboration opportunities. This discussion aimed to find the best solutions to ensure that industrial education in the country remains relevant to the evolving job market and current industry needs.

Synchronization of Industry Standard Curriculum

One of the main focuses of this discussion was the synchronization of industry-standard curricula for schools under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry. With this alignment, graduates from these educational institutions are expected to possess competencies that match labor market demands. The industrial world continues to evolve, and the challenge for educational institutions is how to adjust curricula to keep up with ever-changing industry standards. Therefore, SSD and PPPV BPSDMI will collaborate to develop more practical learning modules and programs that adhere to the latest industry standards.

Development of Showcase Centre 4.0

In addition to curriculum synchronization, one of the proposed collaborations discussed was the development of a Showcase Centre 4.0 in the field of chemical technology. This initiative aims to serve as a competency testing center for various educational work units such as STMI Jakarta, Politeknik AKA Bogor, and Politeknik APP Jakarta. The Showcase Centre 4.0 will provide students and educators access to the latest technology, enable industry-based research, and offer hands-on industrial practice experience.

With the establishment of Showcase Centre 4.0, graduates are expected to acquire more relevant skills and be ready to enter the workforce without requiring extensive additional training from companies. Additionally, this center can serve as a platform for industries to conduct research and development in collaboration with educational institutions.

Implementation of Warehouse Management System (WMS)

During the discussion, SSD and PPPV BPSDMI also addressed the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) for asset recording in BPSDMI educational work units. This system is expected to enhance efficiency in inventory management and address various challenges related to asset tracking and documentation in educational institutions.

Currently, many educational institutions face difficulties in inventory management due to manual or non-integrated systems. By implementing WMS, asset recording will become more organized, transparent, and easily accessible. With SSD's experience in implementing similar systems, they are expected to be the main partner in this project. This digital technology implementation will help educational work units optimize the use and maintenance of their assets more effectively.

Initial Steps and Further Development

As an initial step in this collaboration, SSD will explore the development of WMS for PPPV BPSDMI work units. Once the initial implementation proves successful, the collaboration will be expanded to other educational institutions, including the development of Showcase Centre 4.0 at Politeknik AKA Bogor.

Through this strategic partnership, digital transformation is expected to not only improve operational efficiency but also enhance the overall quality of industrial education. With more digital initiatives being adopted, Indonesia’s industrial education sector will be better prepared to face global challenges and produce competitive graduates for the workforce.
