Elshin Linear Motor - ELM Magnetic Encoder is a magnetic encoder used to identify unique positions for encoders using magnetic fields. The optical encoder uses the same principle to position it as a magnetic encoder, but uses light (optics) rather than magnetic fields. Optical encoder gathering information leads to performance differences.
